WHAT MAKES THIS RACE UNIQUE

  • You're healing the healers. Every dollar funds mental health services for South Florida's first responders — through Stomping Out the Stigma (free, confidential counseling — no names, no insurance, no reports), the First Responders Foundation Florida Chapter (training shelter dogs into service animals for first responders), the Broward Sheriff's Foundation, and the Pompano Beach Fire Rescue and Ocean Rescue Benevolent Associations. You're not running for a tee. You're running so the people who run toward the crisis have somewhere to land when it hits them.

  • The Agency Challenge — three races, one trophy, infinite bragging rights. Police, Fire Rescue, Ocean Rescue, Military, and affiliated agency teams of 3 race the 5K with combined times. The winning agency takes home the Richard Loop Perpetual Award and a year of bragging rights. Real stakes. Real pride. Real teams.

  • Pick your distance — 10K, 5K, 1-Mile Fun Run, or FREE Kids Run. USATF-certified 5K and 10K courses. Kids run free. Pre- and post-race beach yoga (also free). The whole family on the same Pompano Beach Pier morning.

  • The after-party is The Lucky Fish. Cross the line and head to the Lucky Fish for the awards ceremony. Runners 21+ with ID get a complimentary blueberry lemonade or margarita. 2025 sold out — register early.

RACE HISTORY

The Heroes Run was founded by the South Florida First Responders Foundation as a community-based benefit race honoring the courage — and the silent battles — of South Florida's police, firefighters, ocean rescue, and military. Its inaugural 2025 edition sold out at the Pompano Beach Pier, and the 2026 race returns November 28 with an upgraded course, redesigned medals, and the same mission: turning gratitude into action and funding the mental health services that heal the heroes who keep our community safe.
