WHAT MAKES THIS RACE UNIQUE
- You run in Kennedy's neighborhood, for kids like her. Hosted at Barry University in Miami Shores — the neighborhood where Kennedy Bailey grew up and made friends. Every dollar funds the Kennedy Kids Foundation's mission to prevent youth suicide through mental health education, help-seeking behavior, and equitable access to care.
- Pick your distance — 5K or the new 8K. Two distances, one 7:00 AM start. Take the 5K with the family or step up to the inaugural 8K. Both chip-timed by Split Second Timing & Wildside, both pulling for the same cause.
- $500 in cash prizes on the line. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall male and female take home cash. Medals for top 3 in every age division. Real stakes for runners chasing a real morning effort.
- Built by a childhood friend, in Kennedy's memory. The race was the brainchild of Sienna Alvarez-Coia — Kennedy's childhood friend — who built this event to honor her. Few 5Ks carry a story this personal. Show up and you become part of it.
RACE HISTORY
The Kennedy Kids Foundation 5K was created in memory of Kennedy Bailey, who passed away on September 15, 2022 after a mental health crisis. Now in its 4th year and hosted in Kennedy's home neighborhood of Miami Shores, the race fuels the Foundation's mission to prevent youth suicide through mental health education, help-seeking behavior, and equitable access to care — turning grief into action, one stride at a time.
