WHAT MAKES THIS RACE UNIQUE
- FREE skin cancer screenings at the start line. You don't just race — you get checked. Real dermatologists from UM's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center on-site. The cause is the cure, and it starts before the gun.
- You run for skin cancer research at one of the country's top cancer centers. Proceeds fuel sun-protection education, accessible screenings, and skin cancer research at the University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Department of Dermatology. Big-league science. Real impact.
- Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. The lighthouse course. Run the same iconic state park as the Lighthouse Run — palm trees, ocean, historic lighthouse backdrop. One of the most beautiful 5K starts in the country.
- The whole family's in. 5K at 7:15 AM, Kid's Dash at 8:00 AM. Backed by Lululemon, SoulCycle, EltaMD, La Roche-Posay, Publix, and more — meaning loaded swag bags and a real post-race scene.
RACE HISTORY
Now in its 13th year, the SunSmart 5K has become Miami's signature race against skin cancer — a partnership between the University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Department of Dermatology, and the community to fund research, deliver free on-site screenings, and turn Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park into a beacon for sun safety every November.
